Most players find it beneficial to focus on a single unit type when leveling research and military buildings. This way, you will have a larger advantage when using that unit type on the battlefield.
When choosing your main unit type, and eventually your ultimate soldier unit, there are several things to consider.
First, remember that different unit types are strong and weak against different opponents:
Infantry deal extra damage to Archers but receive more damage from Cavalry.
Cavalry deal extra damage to Infantry but receive more damage from Archers.

1. First, you should look at which legendary heroes you have. Many legendary heroes have special abilities that only work when commanding a certain unit type. If you have several legendary heroes focused on commanding the same unit type, that unit type should be your natural choice.
2. Then, consider your Tribe’s strategic position and your preferred play style. If you’re in a defensive position and under siege from other Tribes, archers might be a worthwhile investment. If you like launching surprise attacks and moving squads quickly around the map, Cavalry might fit your style. If you like tanking on the front line, and surviving the longest in battle, Infantry is your best choice.
